Jay Family History

I'm currently trying to research my family's history on my maternal grandmother's side, some of whom were originally from Blaxhall on her father's side, and was wondering if anyone out there could help.

My grandmother was Dorothy M Jay, who was born c. 1920 in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire to James Alfred Jay and Lily Jay (née Harper). Dorothy married Willie Robinson (born c. 1920) in approx. 1941 in Spen Valley (now part of Kirklees), West Yorkshire and they lived all their lives in Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire with their 2 x children - my mother Heather Christine (born 1956) and her older brother Michael Stuart (born 1943).

James Alfred I'm told was originally from Blaxhall and was born to a Mr Alfred Jay and Mrs Louisa Jay (née Sadd I believe) in approx. 1880 - 1885. James Alfred must have left Blaxhall sometime between 1901 and 1913, and moved to York, North Yorkshire where he met and married my great grandmother Lily in approx. 1913 in York. James Alfred died in Spen Valley (now part of Kirklees) in approx. 1962.

Unfortunately that's about as far as I got. So if anyone out there can provide me with any information regarding James Alfred's family and ancestors, I would be very grateful.

Many thanks

NB - some updates/corrections to the above info:

1) My great-grandfather was christened James Alfred Jay, but went by just "Alfred" or "Alf". At the moment, I believe he had up to 9 x siblings:

a) Thomas William Jay - he married I think a woman called Celia Bailey, and had 12/13 children, but I've only found names for 4 of them - Marjorie, Ivy, Celia and Doris.
b) Elizabeth Lydia Jay.
c) Ethel Jay.
d) Hannah Jay.
e) Philip Jay.
f) Jennie/Janie/Jeanie Jay - she at some point moved to Bentley, near Doncaster and had a son named Fred Ward - he married a woman I believe was called Edna, and I believe had 2 x sons - John & Peter.
g) Mary Jay.
h) Mabel Jay.
i) Florence Jay.

2) He and my great grandmother Lily Harper were married in York.

3) Lily Harper was from Accomb, which is just outside of the City of York.

4) My grandmother's full name was Dorothy Mary Jay, and she was born in Morley, West Yorkshire.

5) She and my grandfather, Willie Robinson were married at St Paul's Church in Morley, West Yorkshire in 1941.

6) My mother's middle name is Christina, and she was born in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.

7) My uncle Michael was born in Morley, West Yorkshire.

Hello Dan,
James Alfred Jay was born in Blaxhall, Suffolk on 12 Jun 1883, the son of Alfred Jay & Louisa Sadd (married in Blaxhall on 14 Oct 1882). He was one of eleven children. At some point prior to the 1911 census he moved to Yorkshire for work and married Lily Harper in 1913.

I have many details of his family and can take you back a further two generations to his great-grandparents William Jay & Sarah Smith bth born in Blaxhall c1791.
I regret there is far to much to write here but if you would like to email me at kg(dot)scott@btinternet(dot)com I will send you a report of my research.
Best wishes,
Kevin Scott

Thanks Kevin
