Open Day at Blaxhall Youth Hostel on Saturday 14th June to celebrate its 50th birthday

Situated at the top of School Hill and located in the former school, Blaxhall Youth Hostal is celebrating its 50th year of officially opening this year with an open day on Saturday 14th June 2014. They would love to put together a collection peoples memories and stories of their time at Blaxhall Village School to celebrate it life and journey. If you could have a look through your collections and see if you have any old photos of the building they would appreciate it if they can take copies to include in their mini exhibition. As despite the YHA's extensive archive collection, there are only 2 pictures of the hostel from the "old days" so they would love to see more. So do pop in the Youth Hostel (or give them a call on 01728 688206) and share anything you have before the big day - or of course they hope to see you on Saturday 14th between 11am to 2pm for tea and possibly a slice of cake.

Blaxhall Festival

The annual Blaxhall Festival takes place on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th June 2014. This will be the usual eclectic mix of the Art Exhibition (in the Village Hall), the Flower Festival in the Church and St. Peter's Patronal Service (on the Sunday) plus much more - music, quiz, scarecrow competition, etc - plus ambitious catering (lunches, teas, etc) in the churchyard.

Generally, activities will run from 11.00am onwards until 5pm.
